I was inspired by Neil Pasricha's excellent blog 1000 Awesome Things (1000awesomethings.com), but decided that a moment of gratitude a day would suffice for now. After all, the best way to be happier is to be more grateful for what you already have.

#73 Eefu noodles
At all Chinese wedding dinners, when most guests are full, I have been discreetly skipping dishes or merely picking at them because I'm waiting for the piece de resistance - eefu noodles. While most see this dish as the carbs at the end make sure guests don't go home hungry, this is what I look forward to.

#72 Worship team
I love playing, whether it's drums, bass or guitar. Of course, my first love will always be drums. A special mention for playing guitar for church retreats on the last night. Be prepared to play chord progressions till your fingers bleed - literally. Expect never-ending choruses, countless key changes, and dents in your finger from barring.

#71 Books
I love books. I now have so many of them that they fill a whole wall, and then some. A disturbing thought just occurred to me - I might not live long enough to finish all of them. I guess Sarah'll have to finish them for me.

#70 Extra effort
I think it's absolutely wonderful when pupils go the extra mile for their learning. I look forward to it when they pleasantly surprise me with supreme effort in their work, without any expectation of reward.

#69 Tissue paper
When you're dining alone at a crowded food court, only the humble tissue packet can reserve you a seat while you go buy your food. And when you're done, it saves you from sullying your handkerchief. Did I mention its income potential for our elderly?
#68 Backup
When my MacBook Pro crashed and all my data was lost, I had to rely on my Time Machine-enabled Seagate external hard disk to retrieve my data. It was an excruciatingly slow process - two months to extract the data file by file. Some files were corrupted and had to be copied only after restarting the computer. Eventually, after getting some files from alternative sources (e.g. Facebook, school shared folders), I only lost one file in the end. Not too bad considering I had 150GB of data, including documents, music and videos. Thank God for his providence and mercy.

#67 Church Camp
Who can forget those nights of dai di, contract bridge and general nonsense? And of course, proposed to Jasmine at one of these. =]

#66 Old-school schools
When I went to Naval Base Primary for a workshop, I got a shock. It looked exactly like Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Primary, my alma mater! It really brought back memories of running down the corridor, stealing footballs from the PE store, carrying our own tables to Chinese class, and crunching millipedes in the morning. Ah.
